to ONOS Announce

Today, we’re thrilled to announce not one, but two important developer conferences you should save the date for in your calendar.

Building on the success of last year’s ONOS Build 2016 and honouring our promise to move the event to a different continent each year, we will be hosting the second edition of the conference from September 20-22 in Seoul, Korea. The three-day event will bring together more than 300 ONOS contributors from all over the world to share, learn and hack together and help take the ONOS project to new heights.

With the experience we gained organizing ONOS Build and the community growth that resulted from it, it dawned on us that the CORD project could also benefit greatly from this type of event. CORD has gained incredible momentum since its launch last year and we felt the time was ripe for the CORD community to hold its own developer conference to help its core contributors align behind a common vision and roadmap. We are therefore really excited to also announce that we will be hosting the first CORD Build from November 7-9 in the Bay Area.

These two conferences will provide a unique opportunity for contributors to meet in person, to talk directly with core architects, to present and demo new ideas, to promote recent work, and ultimately, to help shape the future of the ONOS and CORD projects.

In terms of format, you can expect both events to steer clear of the traditional conference format of speakers presenting in front of a passive audience. Instead the conferences will be a healthy mix of presentations, social activities, interactive sessions as well has late night hacking sessions.

Finally, staying true to our open source values, we want to we want make sure that the community participates in the design and planning of both events from the very beginning. In the next weeks we will be providing more details on how you can get involved and help shape the program of each conference.

If you’d like to be involved in helping us plan and organize these events, join us at the Community Steering Team call this Thursday, May 4, at 9 am pacific. We’ll also be sharing more details with the community going forward, so stay tuned as we kick-off the planning for what promises to be two exceptional developer conferences.
