Open Networking Foundation is pleased to announce the release of Aether 1.6.

The full release notes are available online. The major features are listed below:
  • Three Levels of Quality of Service (QoS) Control
    • Per-Device, Maximum Bit Rate.
    • Per-Device by Application, allowing the MBR to be limited for the flow between a pair of Device and Application
    • Per-Slice, allowing the aggregate MBR of all devices in a slice to be limited
  • Application Filtering
    • Five user-specified applications may be allowed or denied per slice
    • An explicit "allow all" or "deny all" may be specified for the default behavior of a slice
  • UPF Pools
    • Aether allows a set of UPFs to be created at customer onboarding, and those UPFs may later be associated with slices as the customer creates additional slices
  • Monitoring
    •  Site health statistics are collected by Aether using the Prometheus tool set, and are fetched on demand by the GUI
