My apologies for the cross post.
As Kiran and I start to dig into making our sprint building process better we are finding more and more situations where we would like to make sure we all understand the same verbiage, process and goals that Agile/Scrum development uses to measure success and progress. I understand that some of our core developers or developers that have been in the industry for a while have used this process for a while now and have no need for a refresher. For those who have not, or Google Summer of Code developers there may be a need or desire to learn the basics of Scrum and Agile development. Please let me know if you would be interested in learning an entry level of this. If there is enough interest I would be willing to put on a webinar on the subject, otherwise I can make links and pdf’s available for reading.
For those who are familiar with Scrum Kiran and I will be working from fundamental Agile Guide, “Scrum From The Trenches” and “The Agile Samurai” for the most part. As we can all imagine none of these were created specifically for our type of Community driven development so it will always be a “Best Practices” model being used and are happy to hear about any new ideas or ways that can make us more productive with higher quality.
If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Chris Power

I definitely don’t mind doing it as a University Call, I wanted to measure interest before we got to that point.

Okay thank you all for your interest and responses. I will get this scheduled up for a university call soon.
For those looking for reading ahead of time the Scrum Guide (see link below) is a great start, other items that I/we use as good resources for Scrum planning are:
And “The Agile Samurai” is a book I recommend as well.
As with most Agile groups there is no absolute right/wrong way to do things. There is a “best practice” mentality used that is decided by the group with people like Kiran and I helping to guide it. The best way to look at all of this information is that these are the tools and common language to use when talking about a project. It is up to us in many ways to decide what tools and words to use.
