Developementt/Implementations of module radiology/radiologydcm4chee

Dear all!

I wrote this post yesterday at night, but somehow it never got uploaded, please forgive me if it will be posted twice, it was already pretty late ;)

I am starting to contribute to the openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee, this module is based of the older openmrs-module-radiology adding a connection to the dcm4chee PACS.

I would like to know if there is anybody out there working on any of those modules or if you know of some implementations?

I need this information due to the following:

The openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee is actually just called as such on github https://github.com/openmrs/openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee

but the code still has the artifactId = radiology (in the modules root pom.xml) so the openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee module's name is actually 'radiology'

The question is should openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee totally replace openmrs-module-radiology which as I can see is not in active developed anymore or should we rename the artifactId = radiologydcm4chee ?

My goal is to help add tests, refactor, get the module regularly built by the bamboo ci and up to https://modules.openmrs.org. Later on adapt the module to the changes in the Order API in OpenMRS to be able to use it with OpenMRS >= 1.10.x, and use the new UI framework.

In my opinion openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee should replace the openmrs-module-radiology, since its not bound to dcm4chee and more elaborate/developed as the older model. Its just one option to implement OpenMRS+radiology module with dcm4chee as PACS/DICOM MWL. It should be possible to connect openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee to any PACS having DICOM MWL capabilities, where you can place orders via HL7 ORM messages as is done by openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee. Furthermore it should also be possible to connect openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee with any DICOM Viewer that we can call via a url as specified in DICOM WADO (like weasis, oviyam).

In order to know whether we can continue using the module name 'radiology' for the codebase https://github.com/openmrs/openmrs-module-radiologydcm4chee put it up on bamboo and modules.openmrs.org later on, and also to use the existing JIRA project set up for openmrs-module-radiology I would like to know what you guys think :)

and got some good information from Barry Levine and Saptarshi Purkayastha (which I think were both mentors of the new and old radiology module) but we do not know anything about real implementations.
