Customize Geoexplorer in Geonode

Hi,

I have installed Geonode 2.4.x in my ubuntu VM and customized the look and feel with adding a sample django app to the geonode project. But I could not customize the Geoexplorer of the Geonode. Does anybody have an idea about how to customize geoexplorer like adding a buffer tool to the geoexplorer?
