Enable Interactive Legend on GeoNode map

In Mapstore under Display settings, there is an option called "Enable Interactive Legend".

Selecting this option produces a legend that looks better because it uses larger colour chips and browser text rather than a small embedded image, it also allows the keys to be clicked to filter the features displayed on the layer.

I only just discovered this option in Mapstore and I love it already. But it is not yet available in GeoNode? Is this a feature that we can expect soon from a downstream update from Mapstore, or is there a more complicated issue preventing it?
