importing stacking velocity in VELF format

Is there a way to import stacking velocity in VELF format? Thanks.

Dear KJS,

This format is not directly supported by our ascii import tool. However there is a very good post on LinkedIn that explains what this data format is, and how to make it readable by a standard seismic interpretation software like OpendTect. Please read this LinkedIn post.

Adding support for such data format to OpendTect can be a very nice project for a student, guided by the OpendTect programmer manual and class documentation, and the OpendTect project is always looking for contributions from the open source community.

Hi KJS,

If you are on Linux and have the awk interpreter then the attached script may do the job as is or after some minor editing.

Use it by: awk -f vel.awk <VELF_File >ODTVEL_File

ODTVEL_File will be space delimited file with X Y TWT VEL that can be imported into OpendTect
