Hello

I didn't have much time to fiddle with this so there may well be a fix but didn't have the time to start and look for one, so I just reverted to using my linux install where I run most of my professional software.

However, for the record…..

I have an intel Mac on my desk for general work, graphics, video etc with an external AMD GPU. It is running the latest Sonoma 14.6 OS.
I know you say you don’t generally support AMD cards but there would be no option to put an Nvidia eGPU in place as Apple and Nvidia don't exactly get along (mind you, you should hear what Linus Torvalds says about Nvidia and linux)

Installed latest opendetect and launched.

The screen update is so slow it is unusable so looks like not using any GPU to render
I went to the app properties and checked the box to ‘prefer external GPU' to specifically use there external GPU for rendering but makes no difference.
Trying to query GPU information does not show any report screen.

So, not sure if you would action any fix here since

1. You generally don't support AMD GPUs even though Apple don’t use Nvidia GPUs and don’t support them.
2. This is the last Intel Mac which will support eGPU with the latest OS and all new Macs of course using ARM CPU/GPUs.

Just thought I would drop a line on this anyway in case there was a quick obvious fix I could use which is available but as I say, have reverted to working on the linux system anyway which does have an Nvidia card in it (running the Nvidia driver).

Kind regards

Graham
