Petrel project with opendtect

Hi everyone.

 

I have a question.

Can i use opendtect to export a velocity model that I created in petrel? My project was created in petrel.

Hi Claudia,

Just for clarity's sake... are you looking to transfer a velocity model from a Petrel project into OpendTect via the PetrelDirect link in OpendTect Pro?

Or are you looking to export a velocity model from Petrel into a file to then import that model into OpendTect in the 'standard' way - ie: without using the PetrelDirect link?

Or some other variant of the above?

I dont have petrel in this moment.

I want to use Opendtect to load my petrel project and export my velocities. Is it work with Opendtect pro?

Hi Claudia,

Within OpendTect Pro, we have the PetrelDirect Link which is capable of transferring data objects and surveys between the two softwares.

But for this to happen, you need to have the PetrelDirect Link installed on the OpendTect Pro side, and the OpendTect Pro plugin for Petrel installed in Petrel on the other side.

Both of these softwares must be installed (each with an up-to-date license) and running simultaneously on the same machine.

If I understand your question correctly as, 'I only have OpendTect and want to open a Petrel project' - that is not possible.
