Dear OpendTect users,
We received a report that the Windows Defender antivirus had
quarantined one of the application installed with OpendTect Pro
v7.0.4, "python_activator.exe", located in the
7.0.0/bin/win64/odExternal folder. This is obviously a false
positive that we have reported to Microsoft. The application is
shipped as part of OpendTect Pro for several years now without
such trouble, and its source code has hardly changed in the past
year.
All applications and libraries built by dGB Earth Sciences go
into an anti-virus scan before being uploaded to the server. You
can find and read that antivirus scan report in the relinfo folder
of each official release (dgbpro_win64.zip.virusscan.log in that
case). Besides all libraries and application are digitally signed
on the Windows and macOS platforms for additional security.
We hope that Microsoft will soon correct this error. If you have
any question do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
