to OpendTect announce
Dear OpendTect user,

We are pleased to announce that OpendTect v6.4.0 has been released for Windows (64-bit & 32-bit) and Linux (64-bit). The Mac version will follow shortly. To install this version please start OpendTect and follow the instructions from: Utilities -> Installation -> Update ...

Alternatively you can download the Installation Manager from our website.

This is a major new release with many new features in both the free and commercial parts. Please note that in order to run the protected, commercial parts of the system, the v6.4 license key must be installed. For questions or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at sup...@dgbes.com.

Highlights in v6.4.0 are:

OpendTect (release notes):
  •  Support for Coordinate Reference System conversion during all Import/Export
  •  Import facility for 2D Navigation Data
  •  Import facility for Deviated Wells (with inclination and azimuth)
  •  Support for Time/Depth conversion of 2D Seismic Data
  •  Upgraded underlying GUI engine to Qt5

OpendTect Pro + dGB Plugins (release notes):
  • Faults & Fractures:
    • New algorithm for extracting Fault planes from Fault Likelihood cubes. It first produces the best possible Fault skins which can be converted into individual Fault planes or FaultSets with several Fault planes in one go.
    • Introducing FaultSet containing several Fault planes that can be visualized and managed collectively.
  • HorizonCube, SSIS, SynthRock:
    • HorizonCube events and SSIS interpretations based on HorizonCube can be used to perform structural/stratigraphic modelling to generate synthetic sections in the Profile module of SynthRock.
    • Provision for using available well logs and/or pseudo-1D models for modelling the rock properties within the packages bound by HorizonCube events or SSIS interpretations.
    • Availability of a multi-viewer to visualize the results in one synchronized window: Seismic (along a 2D line or a 3D random line), Synthetic and the Layer Model (e.g. Acoustic Impedance, Velocity, Porosity...)

Best regards,
Raman
