Resolution limits

Dears,
I would like to know how to identify the vertical and horizontal resolution of 2d seismic data in the OpendTect if possible.

Hi Mohammed,

For the definition of seismic resolution, please see https://wiki.seg.org/wiki/Seismic_Resolution:_Vertical_and_Horizontal

Vertical resolution is typically studied with wedge models. This can be done in SynthRock, a commercial plugin of OpendTect Pro. Horizontal resolution depends on the Fresnel zone, the width of which is determined by the migration process. We have no tools in OpendTect to measure this.
