Hi Jordaan,

Yes, OpendTect can import ASCII files containing only X, Y, and Z values. However, the specific import process depends on the type of object you're creating and the information it requires.

During the import, you'll need to define the ASCII format. I highly recommend saving this format configuration after you set it up. This will allow you to easily retrieve and use the same format for future imports.

Best regards,

Paul

Thanks Paul

I have figured it out.

I am working on a strange project where I have some mining data boreholes on a much greater area.

What I did was to export the data from QGIS, in Ascii format, then created a dummy survey in OpenDtect to import the data. I has dome issues with the coordinates as I say it is a dummy survey.

Then I could re-import the data to my 3D survey (which was acquired for mine planning), create grids and now I can compare the data from the borehole maps with my seismic picks, which are derived from very old and poor quality data.
