Hello,
my name is Lucas. I just downloaded a dataset, that is supposed to be a OPeNDAP format. The extension of the file, however, is .dods.
Unfortunately that server is running a pretty old web interface - we really need to update that - but it should provide a ‘Download as NetCDF’ button and that will be a file that’s easier to load into Matlab. The .dods format can be read by our ‘loaddap’ tool, but unfortunately we don’t have support for that now.
I tried the usual ncdisp() command in Matlab. But my Matlab seems unable to read the file.
Is there any chance to open a .dods file in Matlab or to convert it into netCDF or another readble file?
The website, where I downloaded the data also provides me a URL, that can be „pasted in various DODS clients such as the Matlab and IDL command extensions.“
I’ve never heared about this way of accessing data before. Can you help me out and explain, how I can read the dods file?
Here’s an explanation of that: http://www.opendap.org/user/jimg/blog/matlab_2012a

Best regards,
Lucas
