Hi,
My head node is completely up.
I am using HP DL360 Gen9 8SFF CTO Server as my compute node and I am trying to PXE boot it.

I see the error.

Booting PXE over IPV4
Station IP address is 10.6.0.21
Server IP Address is 10.6.0.1
NBP filename is bootx64.efi
NBP filesize is 1289424 bytes
NBP File downloaded successfully
Fetching netboot image..
Booting under Maas Direction...
error: File not found
unaligned pointer0x6df00fa4
Aborted. Press key to exit..

Has anyone encountered this problem, or know the way around this issue?

Regards,
Girish

Hi,
Providing some more information for this issue.
Below is snapshot when PXE boot fails. I am curios about the error ephemeral-ubuntu-xenial-no-such image.
I see that Ubuntu image Trusty 64bit is downloaded in /var/lib/maas/boot-resources/ ...... . Not sure why the compute is looking for a Xenial Ubuntu image. This is the cause of the failure.

Girish

hi ,
I faced similar problem while using dell servers .
did you change ipmi server address configuration static to dhcp ?

Could you please change ipmi configuration to
  - ipmi over lan : on
  - ipmi server configuration : dhcp

thanks

On our Dell servers we had to turn on IPMI over LAN, but we didn’t have to set the server configuration to be dhcp (in fact it’s not even an option inside of our iDrac:

Without IPMI over LAN enabled the compute node will power off, but will not turn back on via command as well.

Thanks Murat, Brian for the response.

I will check both the "IPMI over Lan" and "IPMI server configuration" settings. I see from the logs that it does get a address via DHCP from the headnode. But, strange that it is looking for Xenial Ubuntu image rather than the Trusty Ubuntu image which is hosted from the MaaS.
Of course, I will check the things you are suggesting tomorrow.

Regards,
Girish

You should set ipmi ip adress either statically or dynamically .
If your problem is about images , you should delete image from maas and download again .
Sometimes maas don't download whole images .
