Hello,

I have a question for those who schedule recordings through Opencast. Is there a way in Opencast (or in Paella) to have it show some placeholder for recordings that are not yet available? E.g. a livestream that hasn't started yet gives me this error:

No such HLS stream: the video is not available

A recording without live stream gives me this error message as long as it's not available:

Error loading video <eventid>

Is there a way to make Opencast or Paella display a more user friendly placeholder page as long as a recording or stream is not yet available? How do you handle this situation?

Hi Tim

A bit late to the party, but the short answer is that that feature is not implemented. Maybe you could put a feature request in the paella website and hopefully we’ll look into it

Hi Carlos,

how would you go about implementing this in Paella? I looked at the episode.json that PaellaPlayer fetches from Opencast but I don't see the scheduled start/end time for the recording in there. So at the moment I don't see how we can distinguish between a recording that's not available yet (not uploaded/live stream hasn't started) and a video that can't be loaded for other reasons. Is it better to implement this in Paella or in Opencast? If this should be Paella feature I will create a feature request on the website.
