Hello All.

What are the best practices for customizing java memory settings? I've been using ${OPENCAST_HOME}/bin/setenv to set the
JVM maximum, minimum and permanent memory settings, but it seems to get clobbered when upgrading.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,
I could look into marking the `setenv` as configuration file which would
keep them for updates. In that case, I tend to move them or have them
linked into /etc/opencast as configuration file. Any opinion on that?
Also, if I prepare a build, would you be willing to test that?

Hi,

we had the same problem that after an upgrade the parameters were overwritten.
Now this is part of our Ansible opencast configuration.

Having them linked in /etc/opencast would also be a good idea.
So they will come more into the focus of an operator.

Hi Justin, hi Ruth,
note that the 5.1 RPMs now have the setenv file in /etc/opencast
and /usr/share/opencast/bin/setenv is just a symlink to that file.

This means that it it is now marked as configuration and updates will
not overwrite that file if a user has previously modified it.

Regards,
Lars
