Hi all,

I am a newbie about Segment routing. Now I am implementing some experiments on Segment routing using Mininet 2.2, ONOS v2.1.
When I run "sr-reroute-network" command in CLI to trigger routing and rule-population in the network, I got an error:

2020-04-01T10:09:18,717 | ERROR | onos-of-worker-2 | OFChannelHandler                 | 199 - org.onosproject.onos-protocols-openflow-ctl - 2.1.0.SNAPSHOT | OFGroupModFailedErrorMsgVer14(xid=338, code=GROUP_EXISTS, data=OFGroupAddVer14(xid=338, groupType=INDIRECT, group=2449473725, buckets=[OFBucketVer14(weight=0, watchPort=any, watchGroup=any, actions=[OFActionPopVlanVer14(), OFActionPushMplsVer14(ethertype=0x8847), OFActionSetFieldVer14(field=OFOxmMplsLabelVer14(value=0x00000007)), OFActionGroupVer14(group=2415919292), OFActionPushVlanVer14(ethertype=0x8100), OFActionSetFieldVer14(field=OFOxmVlanVidVer14(value=0x1fff))])])) from switch DefaultSwitchHandshaker{session=127.0.0.1:41172, dpid=xxxxxxxxxxxxx} in state ACTIVE

Does anybody know why? How can I resolve this?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Van

Hi Van,

This error usually won't disrupt the traffic. GROUP_EXISTS simply indicates that the same group has been installed on the switch previously.
Did you actually see a traffic disruption?

Thanks,
Charles

Hi Charles,

When I call to "sr-reroute-network" command only one time, there is no traffic disruption. However, when I call this command frequently (every 10s), the network traffic is disrupted after a few hours.
Do you have any ideas about this?

Best regards,
Van

Hi Van,

sr-reroute-network was designed as the last resort that can potentially recover some unexpected scenario.
We do not recommend running it regularly. This command will trigger system-wide route re-computation / re-programming, and can therefore create unnecessary churn.

I would suggest first checking the flows and groups in the scenario where traffic was disrupted, and conduct further investigation from there.
The information described here may be useful figuring out which flow/group went wrong.

Thanks,
