ICT: DBTC going VOIP starting Next School Year 2019-20

The soft-start of VOIP implementation this school year 2018-19 was successful and seen to be moving forward for full implementation starting SY2019-20. DBTC currently uses the legacy Analog PBX Telephony System which has become obsolete. Maintaining and replacing the analog cards of the Analog PBX is becoming costly for the school and parts are not already in production anymore.

The new VOIP system will be used to retire the existing setup and will be connected to the campus network.  There are already VOIP phones deployed in the various offices and a number of units are still to be replaced inside the campus.  The VOIP is also capable of being deployed in SMART Phones for employees who have work going around the campus and can answer any calls in any location.  The VOIP has a voicemail capability and can even send Voicemails through the one-bosco accounts.  An IVR is also available enabling the automated attendant forwarding calls, missed calls, group calls to the right receiver.

Another important feature is its capability to ride over the internet making phone calls reaching another VOIP phone in any part of the world.  Don Bosco Bacolor already implemented the full VOIP implementation in their area while Don Bosco Tarlac is also starting to move to the said direction.  Once all Don Bosco Educational Centers have been converted to VOIP, there will be seemless voice communications between different centers using the internet.  Collaboration and coordination between schools will be faster, teleconferencing will just be a normal thing. 

The ICT Team will be replacing the remaining analog telephone units this summer of SY2018-19 and hopefuly the full implementation of VOIP will be experienced the following school year ahead.
