sticky smoker lid?

I was having trouble getting my smoker lid open. The tar from the smoke sealed it shut.

I found that heating the surface with a propane torch and brushing the gooey surfaces with a small wire brush cleaned it up nicely!

Don't forget to wear leather gloves. The metal gets HOT!
