WTB Junior CX and Mountain bikes

My oldest son has outgrown his current bikes so we are looking to move him up to something bigger.  For the CX bike, he's currently 5'9" so something in the 54-56cm range ideally.  We would be hoping for something under $1000.

For a mountain bike he just needs a simple hardtail, nothing too fancy.  We don't race mountain bikes.  Again, hoping to spend less than $1000.

Let us know what you might have sitting around after your Christmas upgrades and we can take a look.
