It would be great to see master's categories for the women too rather than just men/open. Thanks.

Yes, let's get more masters women out to Baker City.  As a rule to make a race category viable the field needs to be at least a certain size. The masters men have been steadily growing and eventually their was enough last year and the year before to at least have a combined Masters 3/4/5 50+ and 60+ Open field out on stage 1 and 4.  It would be totally awesome to see the same for women.  If we get 25 women masters racers we can do the same at BCCC this summer.  I think there is enough masters women out their let's make it happen!  Currently in registration their is a Master Women 3/4/5 Category if this category fills up to 25 or more we will work as hard as we can to have a separate caravan and official and will break down 60+ and 50+ if racers feel that is what they want.

Maybe you can clarify on the website that there is a masters women 3/4/5, because the website does not list that. (See attached photo).
Thanks,
Julie Ann

CAT 1/2 Masters Women cannot sign up for the Master's 3/4/5 Category...so this excludes them.  Furthermore, many OBRA events have no category for them which also excludes them from the Overall Master's Women's Bar.  The BAR is actually only for Master's Women CAT 3/4/5 racers.

I would be happy to race the Cat 1/2/3 however, I no longer have a TT bike which is required for that women's field only.  Very expensive (unless you are VIP) to race bikes in Oregon, when so many doors have been shut time and time again.  There comes the time when there is not a category for a racer anymore, and the time and cost to keep coming back year after year doesn't make any sense anymore.

All of the answers to any questions are best responded to by the OBRA board as they are 100% in control of the community.

Best all and happy riding,

KG

I might be interested too if you had a women's masters 50+ and 60+.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to clarify something.  OBRA does not dictate what categories race promoters need to offer.  And as a race promoter, I so appreciate the freedom that they give race promoters to make the best decision for their race.
Thank you to OBRA staff and the Board of Directors for all you do in supporting race promoters.
Sincerely,

Thanks, Molly. I thought of saying something similar last night. I also want to say I appreciate people speaking up and asking for the categories they want to see. I hope having the conversation publicly encourages others to speak up and say “give us a competitive category and I’ll come race.”

Screenshot 2024-12-01 183909.pngJulie,

Thanks for pointing this detail out. Now, the registration page has Master's Women 3/4/5 as a category. It was already a category on our Bikereg registration page and Tech guide, but it is nice to have all these things sync up. This has also led me to find a few more misspellings and corrections that need to be made on the race website, so I am working on it.

Again, thanks for your support
