Greetings!

I am writing to remind you about the 2020 Home Movie Day screen event and share information on the newly schedule panel discussion this Saturday, October 17th. As in past years, this event is organized by the NYU AMIA Student Chapter, in collaboration with the Queens Memory Project and XRF Collective.

Saturday, October 17, 2020
3pm to 4pm: Home Movie Day Panel Discussion

Join a discussion moderated by the NYU Student Chapter of the Association of Moving Image Archivists about home movie collection, curation, and preservation. Discussion panelists include Candace Ming (MIAP '11)  – Media Conservation and Digitization Specialist, Smithsonian Institution; Jasmyn Castro (MIAP '15)  – Digital Historian & Archivist, Creator of African American Home Movie Archive; Natalie Milbrodt – Coordinator, Metadata Services at Queens Public Library; and Stephen Gong – Executive Director, Center for Asian American Media. More information about the event can be found here.

7PM to 8pm: 2020 NYC Home Movie Day Screening Event

Home Movie Day 2020 will include a streaming program of home movies contributed by Queens residents. If you have captured a special event on your phone, or have digitized your family films, your home movie could be part of the screening! More information about the program can be found here.
