Uncharted Geographies: Remapping Argentina Through Regional Cinema Leandro Varela, Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken, in conversation with Juana Suárez, Director of the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program
Argentina's rich cinematic heritage is usually associated with the filmmaking tradition of Buenos Aires. This evening program features a selection of short films that trace routes through Argentine regions that have also been prolific in film production yet not usually showcased in international spaces. Ranging from traditional formats to more avant-garde iterations, the program also highlights the efforts of Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken to diversify archival histories. Varela is a researcher and archivist for the Museum, and also a filmmaker. He is currently a Visiting Scholar in the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies. This is an in-person event, open to the public. Prior registration is required. Non-NYU attendees will receive emailed instructions for building access and may be asked to present a government-issued photo ID upon arrival. NYU attendees must present their NYU ID.
NYU Tisch School of the Arts provides reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities. Requests for accommodations should be made at least two weeks before the date of the event when possible.
