Hi all,

The link posted appears to be for the special list (to change "Gays" to "Gay people").

Here's the link for the other subject headings: classweb.org/tentative-subjects/2308.html

I sent the following comments to list 2308:

150 Glass art--China--History    [sp2023001601]
150 Glass art--China--History--To 221 B.C.    [sp2023001602]

Glass art is a fine art topic (not decorative arts) and should therefore not have the subdivision History. The selected pattern in sp2023001602 is Jade art objects, a decorative arts term and therefore not appropriate here as a pattern.

150 Walking as art    [May Subd Geog]    [sp2023000332]
150 Walking in art    [Not Subd Geog]    [sp 97002577 ]

In the past few months, there have been a few proposals of [topic] in art that have been rejected by the Editorial Meeting (for example, Clippings (Books, newspapers, etc.) in art and Gender transition in art) because they did not literally represent the topic in works of art. I have had discussions with subject specialists in the past about the appropriateness of [topic] in art headings when the relationship is conceptual rather than representational. I think these "walking" examples fall in the same camp. Looking at the dozen bib records in the LC catalog with the subject heading Walking in art, it looks to me like it would be difficult to split them between Walking in art and Walking as art. I don't think it's a meaningful distinction.
