NYLC is excited to announce that applications are now open for Youth as Solutions, our flagship youth leadership development program designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and support to drive positive change in their communities.

Youth as Solutions empowers teams of students in grades 6-12, working alongside an adult mentor, to design and implement service-learning projects that address pressing community issues in one of our core impact areas - education, community health, environment, or civics and democracy. Through this program, students will develop critical leadership skills, learn effective problem-solving strategies, and gain hands-on experience in civic engagement.

Program Highlights:

Service-Learning Framework: Teams engage in high-quality service-learning, connecting academic learning with meaningful community action.

✔ Funding Provided: You'll receive between $250 - $1,000 to implement your project and service activities!

Expert Guidance: NYLC provides teams with resources, training, and ongoing support to ensure successful project implementation.

Leadership Development: Participants strengthen their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while creating real impact.

National Recognition: Teams have the opportunity to showcase their projects and be recognized for their contributions to their communities.

We invite schools, youth organizations, and educators committed to youth empowerment to form and support teams in applying for this year’s program.

How to Apply:

Form a Leadership team - consisting of at least two youth in grades 6-12 and an adult mentor from a public school, school district, government entity, or nonprofit. Then head to https://nylc.org/youth-as-solutions/  to apply by September 4, 2025.

This program will kick off at the start of the 2025 - 26 school year!

Join us in shaping the next generation of changemakers!
