We’re excited to announce the launch of the AMC VEX IQ STEAM Robotics Challenge—a new hands-on robotics opportunity for students in grades 5–8 across our four-county region.
This program is part of the GM Community Impact Grant awarded to the Advanced Manufacturing Consortium (AMC) to expand robotics and manufacturing pathways for students. Each participating middle school will receive two VEX IQ competition kits (on loan for the duration of the grant), along with mentoring from the Northern Buckeye Professional Learning Group and additional resources from the Northwest Ohio STEAM Lab. The grant also covers competition entry fees for the new regional VEX IQ competition we’re forming in 2026.
The program is ideal for schools that run semester-length STEAM or technology classes, since it provides enough time for students to build, code, and test their robots while preparing for competition.
We already have four high schools confirmed for the VEX CTE Workcell Challenge, and we now have three remaining spots available for middle-school teams to join the VEX IQ Challenge.
If your school is interested in participating—or if you’d like more information—please reply to this message. We’ll be scheduling a brief informational session soon for interested schools.
