Hello fellow NWAX members,

Brief: Is anyone else peering with Amazon (.101 & .102)  receiving zero routes and zero response from their pee...@amazon.com email?

Details:
My traffic plummeted to zero on 5/11 after the BGP sessions were temporarily turned down and brought back up by the remote side (Amazon). My BGP sessions for both IPv4 & v6 are "up" going to both Amazon routers but not receiving any routes.  I have sent inquiries to Amazon via email but have heard nothing back from them about the status of these router connections.
Is anyone else receiving zer0 routes? If so, has anyone had any success getting a response from Amazon?

We are seeing the same issue. One of our sessions with them went down a few weeks ago. I emailed them about it and IPv6 came back but not IPv4. We are not receiving any routes IPv4 or IPv6. I have reached out a couple times to them with no response.

Thank you Scott & Lance for checking and verifying if I was an isolated incident.

Actions:
I saw some folks on the NANOG list mentioning this website https://peering.aws/ which is also listed in the notes field of their peeringdb. https://www.peeringdb.com/net/1418
On this website, I was able to register and link my connections to create 2 "sessions" that now show they are in the status of "Provisioning."

Next Steps:
I will let you know if this results in any progress that I can suggest the same for you. Otherwise, if you find some other method of contact please let me know!

We also have sessions that are up but have no routes/traffic

I’ve followed the link at https://interconnect.amazon/ authorized via our peeringdb account.  No sessions were listed so I created IPv4 and IPv6 sessions via the AWS peering portal.  The sessions currently show a status of disconnected. I’m going to let it sit overnight and see if some automation happens.

I also have tried https://interconnect.amazon/ but show no sessions and when I try to create sessions it tells me I need to contact peerin...@amazon.com. I have sent them several emails and receive no response. I will try again.

Here's the response we received from Amazon's NOC:
I am seeing a migration of the IX link (198.32.195.102) is going on at our end.
We are moving the IX link to another router.
Sessions will be available after the migration;  but exact ETR is not available.

So it looks like they're doing an upgrade that could take quite a while.

Wow. They need to take it down for days to migrate a peering? Sounds like I need to apply to Amazon's networking team.

FYI: You may be receiving some Amazon routes as I noticed a change shortly after our last messages last week:

I just noticed that peering session with .102 is established with routes sometime last week on the 6th.
.101 is now in an "Active" state and not working altogether.
Meanwhile the web interface (https://console.us-west-2.interconnect.amazon/peering/sessions) shows status "Disconnected" for both "sessions."
Since I am receiving routes on the .102 peer, I am passing several Gbps of traffic as it was for that peer before the problems. However, not equal to the amount of traffic from both .101 & .102 that I had before. Perhaps others may see an improvement as well?

I'll take some over none!

Hi Justin,

We mentioned it when we ran into our contact at NANOG in Denver this week, and it looks like he had .102 (Pittock) restored.

Best Regards,
Amber

Hi All,

Amazon is back up and running on .101 (EdgeConneX). To my knowledge, this concludes their upgrade.
