Resource Monitor add-on notice: battery status reporting command (NVDA+Shift+number row 4) is deprecated and will be removed in a future add-on release (removing duplication with screen reader command)

Hi all,

For folks unaware: I have asked the NVDA add-on authors to do perform an audit of add-ons registered on the NV Access ad-on store to see if there are add-ons duplicating each other and/or NVDA features and commands.

IMPORTANT NOTICE for Resource Monitor users: the battery status reporting feature (NVDA+Shift+number row 4) is deprecated and will be removed in a future add-on release.

Detail: currently when you press NVDA+Shift+number row 4 with Resource Monitor active, you will hear battery status report such as percentage with charging status (in some cases, you will hear battery warnings). However, this feature duplicates NVDA's own battery status command (NVDA+Shift+B). To reduce confusion, the battery reporting feature from Resource Monitor will be removed from the add-on in a future release.

Timeline:

July 2026: feature deprecation notice in the changelog and in the help file (readme document)
August 2026 (at the earliest): battery status command removed from Resource Monitor (likely to be replaced with something else).
