Hi everyone,

Beta2 of NVDA 2025.2 is now available for download and testing. For anyone who is interested in trying out what the next version of NVDA has to offer before it is officially released, we welcome you to download the beta and provide feedback using our issue reporting process. By installing the beta you will be opting into NVDA’s beta channel, and will only receive update notifications for beta and release candidate (RC) builds. The beta/RC channel will always keep you up to date with the latest NVDA version. The last RC in a release cycle is identical to the final stable release. To return to the stable release channel, upgrade manually to the latest stable build.

Highlights

This release includes improvements in Windows 11, browse mode, and Microsoft Word.

In browse mode, quick navigation keys for headings 7 through 9 have been added. The Elements List and Find dialogs no longer cause application profiles to be deactivated. In Microsoft Edge, notifications like “loading complete” no longer stop say all.

In Microsoft Word, when using the shortcuts to switch to page view or outline view, the new view is now reported. When UIA is enabled, redundant table end markers are no longer brailled when the cursor is in a table cell.

On Windows 11, NVDA will no longer announce emoji panel items twice while browsing them. Performance and reliability in the Start Menu on Windows 11 24H2 has been improved. On Windows 11 24H2 and newer, window state will be announced when resizing windows with `Windows+arrow` keys. Support has also been added for Windows 11 Voice Access.

Options have been added to report the language of the text being read, and report when the language is not supported by the current synthesizer.

Support for the NLS eReader Zoomax braille display has been added. Support for cursor routing with the point and click action on the Humanware Monarch has been added.

LibLouis has been updated, adding new Biblical Hebrew, Russian 6 dot computer braille and Thai Grade 2 braille tables. eSpeak NG has been updated, adding support for Aromanian, Crimean Tatar, Mongolian, and Pashto.

There have also been a number of other fixes and improvements, including to mouse and touch interaction, Windows 11 Notepad, and Google Chrome.

Changes introduced in Beta 2:

  • When typing into a cell in Microsoft Excel, the braille display is now correctly updated to show the new content.
  • Fixed a bug where the NLS eReader Zoomax braille display driver did not work with all devices.
  • Fixed errors in object navigation with braille in XAML static text controls.
  • Fixed root certificate issues in the Add-on Store.
  • Updates to translations.

Hi Quentin and all

For completeness:
In the new beta, there is also the following PR (not listed in your message):
#18418: Make the report language command consistent across settings

Yes, making the report language command consistent across settings fixes a bug reported by Cyrille, and I think that it should be mentioned.
I'll mention it on a small website owned by me, and NV Access can add it to changes if they want.
Cheers

Thanks for picking that up Cyrille!  Looks like that one got missed from the change log too.  I'll get that updated in the post - and the change log for the next beta.

What a confusion of versions!

Beta2 as is on the subject or Beta3 as is on the message?

Because the notification is a reply to the post about Beta 2.  Apologies for the confusion!  But yes, Beta 3 is out: NV Access | NVDA 2025.2beta3 available for testing
