Hello all.

I’m noticing some strange behavior with NVDA’s input gestures dialog. I’m not able to open it. I’ve tried everything I could think of, disabling all add-ons, and removing them, and resetting configuration to factory defaults, but this dialog still won’t open. I have the installed copy of NVDA 2026.1 and a portable NVDA alpha build and when testing with both of these builds, the dialog for me won’t open.. If anyone has any other suggestions to try, this would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Hi Justin,

How are you tring to get into the input gestures?

If you press NVDA+n to open the NVDA menu
Then P for Preferences

What options do you have in that menu?  If you press the up arrow, does it take you to "Input Gestures" and if you then press enter on that, does the dialog open?

If you have NVDA running in secure mode (perhaps from your employer?) then on the preferences menu you will only find "Settings" (we are planning a better "corporate" mode which meets the secure needs of corporates while still letting you change things like input gestures which won't interfere with their security).

If you are getting an error, can you please let me know what that is?  And if you could send me (offlist) your NVDA log, that may help as well.  Press Windows+e to open the file explorer, then alt+d for the address bar and type %temp% (note the percent signs around the word temp), and enter.  In here you should find nvda.log which is the log file from the currently running, or most recently run instance of NVDA.  nvda-old.log is from the time before - please send either or both of those to me at in...@nvaccess.org to look at.

Kind regards

Quentin
