The Release Candidate (RC) of NVDA 2026.1.1 is now available for download and testing. We encourage all users to download this RC and provide feedback. Unless any critical bugs are found, this will be identical to the final 2026.1.1 release. By installing the RC you will be opting into NVDA’s beta/RC channel, and will only receive update notifications for these builds. The beta/RC channel will always keep you up to date with the latest NVDA version. The last RC in a release cycle is identical to the final stable release. To return to the stable release channel, upgrade manually to the latest stable build.

Links Highlights

This is a patch release to fix security issues. A bug fix is also included for an issue introduced in 2026.1 with how ctrl+f is handled in File Explorer. A change introduced in 2026.1 with how NVDA handles connection issues with Remote Access was removed.

Andrew, I am pretty sure that mail was sent out by mistake/repeating a prior mail since released version and not release candidate of 2026.1 has already been published:

https://www.nvaccess.org/download/

I am already running full version 2026.1, FWIW.

I'm on beta channel. NVDA beta versions starting from
beta-55826,047a6d53 (2026.2.0.55826) have a big big problem: 32-bit SAPI
5 speech engines are completely silent. Hope this is fixed prior the
release version is published.

The full production version has been released about a week ago. RCs
aren't released after the full production version. If any changes have
been made, the update should be to the production, not to the RC version.

Hi everyone,

Our apologies - we initially missed a character in the URL in the release post.  I fixed this within a short period, but in the meantime, the mail had gone out copying the original release post error.  If you went to the post after the first few minutes, it should be fine.

Kind regards

Quentin

But the full production version has already been released. After that
there should be no more RC releases.

I just checked to be sure I was correct. I asked the previous
production version of NVDA to check for updates and this is what was said:
NVDA Update NVDA version 2026.1 is available.

That's right Gene,

NVDA 2026.1 (stable) is out.
the current RC which we released yesterday is NVDA 2026.1.1 release candidate.  From its highlights: "This is a patch release to fix security issues. A bug fix is also included for an issue introduced in 2026.1 with how ctrl+f is handled in File Explorer. A change introduced in 2026.1 with how NVDA handles connection issues with Remote Access was removed."

If you are on NVDA 2026.1 stable, you won't see an update until the final 2026.1.1 comes out.

Also, I just checked for updates using the previous RC version and found
this:
NVDA Update NVDA version 2026.1.1rc1 is available.

When I first saw the update notice on the list yesterday, I thought an
error had been made since I never recall any RC release following an
update of the first production version of a new version.
