Thanks for this.
I give a monthly donation to NVAccess, is there any way to stop NVDA asking for a donation for each update?
Also, how do I remove the TifloTechnia voice trial? I'm not finding a way to do that.
I do not plan to buy.

Hello!
Just remove the Tiflotecnia voices add-on through the NVDA add-on store...

to remove the add on uninstall it via the add ons option under tools so:
tools > add ons > add on name.
I like the idea of disabling the donations thing every update. I just make it go away but an option to have it not show up at all would be nice, or show up less often or have the option in the help menu, just there. If there is such an option in the help menu, please ignore that suggestion.

Hi Richard 42.
To date, I think the donate nag screen is with us.
I do not know if the team has any plans to change this.

I don't think it is a reasonable ask at all. It ought to remind those who donate that they have done a good thing, and prod the guilty consciousness of those who don't.
What on earth is the matter with you? it takes two seconds to handle at most, or is it that you think you are not paying enough? It's a very small annoyance, and I don't see a way round it unless there is a whole system of linking donations directly with the operating screen readeer, which is just an added inapplicable.

I honestly have not been bothered by this message at all but it sure is a good reminder to reward those working hard behind the scenes to keep this resource available to us for free and those who cannot afford a commercial screen reader. I donate once a year, I have to actually save up for it, I also promote donating to NVDA through all my communication and my website The Somebody, Nobody, Anybody and Everybody Blog!
Let us not make a big deal about such things please, you have the option to dismiss the ask and indulge only when you want to and it is not constantly nagging you to donate.

Hi Richard, and everyone.
Apologies for the delay, I've been travelling this week (and am still at sight city).
Firstly thank you for your generous regular donation! We do very much appreciate that!
There isn't currently a way to remove the request to donate, but I can definitely see why it is a reasonable ask, given you already donate.
In it's defence, I'd put forward that one of the main reasons we don't have an automatic way of suppressing it, is because we really don't connect any information on our users, so don't have a way of tying your donation to your copy of NVDA.
But, it's definitely something for us to consider, and I will raise it.
Kind regards
Quentin

I don't know what you have in mind that the prompt should be changed to say but too much appreciation is worse than none. It's like the Shakespeare line about she doth protest too much. And such formulaic statements as thanks to those who donate are meaningless when seen over and over. Automated thanks is, in my opinion, just a reminder that a web page or some other system is thanking me with no idea of what it is saying.
People may not want this kind of formulaic praise.
Gene
Also, as you demonstrate in your message, you say that those who can't donate now shouldn't feel pressure and are appreciated. In other words, there are simply some things better left unsaid or left alone. If you thank those who contribute you have to have further text saying that NVDA isn't pressuring people to contribute, that those who can't now are still appreciated. In other words, the thank you opens up perhaps a three or four sentence hedge that makes the whole thanks attempt look bad.
It's saying, intended or not, please donate but don't feel badly if you don't. This is what comes of trying to accommodate people's feelings to extremes, meaningless hedging. It is better not even to raise the thanks question in the first place.
Gene
Hi Quentin,
I agree with Gene on this. The prompt is fine just as it is.
