Hi,

I'm trying to edit PowerPoint slides. When I press enter on an item to be able to edit its contents, I am unable to read it on my Braille display and NVDA will not read the text either. I know the item isn't empty, because when I press escape and press tab to navigate to the different items on the slide, the text is read. It's just that I can't read it when I try editing.

I assume there's something wrong with my NVDA settings, because when I try the same using the beta version, There's no problem at all. I don't think it's the difference between the current version and the beta version, because I remember having had this problem in the past. At the time I deleted my NVDA settings directory, which resolved the problem. However, I would like to avoid doing this now, because this would also involve having to reinstall all of my add-ons again.

So, does anyone have an idea How I might resolve this and which of my NVDA settings might be the problem here?

Thank you.

Hi Sandra,
Could be resulting from some misconfiguration in your synthesizer?
I have had that issue before, and it got resolved when I changed the speech synthesizer.
I however tried it now and it worked fine.

Hi Yasser,

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think my speech synth or speech synth settings are the problem, because I use the same speech synthesizer in the beta, and it works in the beta. The Braille display doesn't show the contents of the item either, so I think it's another setting creating the problem.

Regards

Hi Sandra, since you said that it worked when you deleted your settings/ configurations, maybe there could be an issue with an addon or add-ons breaking your PowerPoint compatibility.

Sandra, I cannot replicate here.  Did you create the PowerPoint or did it come from someone else?  I wonder whether something funky was done when creating.

Hi Sandra

Yes, to complete Yasser's good suggestion, try to restart with add-ons disabled and see if it changes something.

Cheers,

Cyrille

Hi Cyrille and Yasser,

Starting NVDA without Addons doesn't help, it must be something in my settings.

Thank you

Hi Andrew,

No, it happens in any Presentation, even when I just create a new one. That's why I think it's domething in my settings.

Thank you

Sandra
