Hello,

This morning when I turned on my computer, I got  strange notification from Windows Security. Something but NVDA and driver compatibility. When I looked into it a little further, I was reading something but smart app control. I went into the security ettings and turned it off, but I still get this notification but NVDA  driver compatibility. Has nyone else ever een this from?

Thanks.

What is the specific Windows version and Build you are currently using? (You can check this by pressing Windows + R, typing winver, and pressing Enter).
Is your OS fully up to date according to Windows Update?
Are you using the latest version of NVDA?

Hi,

Yes, I’m up to date on both Windows and NVDA. I have a portable version of NVDA I use for testing/practicing my development skills on, and then there’s the installed copy to my hard drive that I don’t use for development. It’s more used for everyday tasks.

Hello! Is it really about NVDA? Maybe a problem was caused by nVidia graphics adapter driver if you have one?

Just turning off a security setting has nothing to do with solving a
problem. It simply means you are trying to get security not to tell
you about this any longer. Solving a problem is completely different
than telling Windows or something else not too notify you about
something and I would advise not doing this because if you do, you may
never know if the problem has been solved.

If the computer works properly, then the question arises whether you
have to do anything. Just because an error message comes up, doesn't
mean anything is occurring that matters. I would advise asking about a
problem like this before taking actions that may not solve anything and
that may make it harder to solve a problem, if it matters.

Hi Justin,

Thank you for the update and for confirming those details.

Since both Windows and NVDA are up to date, have you had a chance to check for driver updates specifically through Device Manager? Sometimes a manual check there can catch compatibility issues that Windows Update might overlook.

Also, if you haven’t already, remember to perform a full restart after any updates. This helps clear out temporary cached files that are indexed and ensures the system is running on the latest configurations.

Warm regards,
