Hello everyone,

I'm Serena and I'm writing from Italy.

I've just joined this group because I have an issue with NVDA and hope
you can help me find a solution.

I have to use LibreOffice Writer for work. Everything worked smoothly
until some weeks ago, when NVDA stopped showing italics and bold in
Braille when using this application. I'm using the latest version of
both NVDA and LibreOffice Writer and the Braille Extender and Braille
Essentials add-ons are installed as well. As I said before, the issue
only regards LibreOffice Writer, while I can still see both italics and
bold in other applications, such as the Web browser.

Do you have any clue why this happens and what can be done to solve the
situation?

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,

Serena Stronati

If you place the cursor on italic or bold text, then query the
formatting with NVDA, does it identify the italic or bold font
correctly?

From memory, Insert-F is the command to query it, similar to several
other screen readers.

Hello and thanks for replying.

Yes, if I ask NVDA with insert-f, it correctly identifies both italics
and bold, but I need to see them quickly while skimming a text without
having to verify every single word.

Hey Serena, welcome to the list!

Could it be that those two braille add-ons are conflicting with each other?

How long ago did you install any of these? Could you restart NVDA in “Restart with add-ons disabled and debug logging enabled” (for your convenience, I have bolded the part within quotations) mode to see if the problem is caused by any of the add-ons?

HTH,

Snehashish.

Hi,

You say you have both BrailleExtender and Braille Essentials add-ons installed. Please enable one of these add-ons.

Did you (or the organization you might be working for) recently update LibreOffice? What is the exact LibreOffice version you have?

Cheers,

Joseph
