Dear Group,
I am experiencing some strange behavior with a couple of add-ons where their features or input gestures are not appearing where expected, and I am hoping someone might have some insights or a fix.
Issues Observed:
1. Remote Access Add-on:
The add-on shows up under NVDA Settings/ Tools.
However, when I go to Input Gestures under Preferences, I cannot find any entries for it.
Similarly, I cannot find it in the installed tab of the Add-on Store.
2. WhatsAppNG Add-on:
After installing the WhatsAppNG add-on, I am unable to customize its input gestures because there is no option or category for it under Preferences -> Input Gestures to make any changes.
Questions:
Why is this "ghost" behavior happening with these add-ons?
Is this related to compatibility with recent NVDA versions, or are these categories expected to be found elsewhere?
How can I fix this so I can properly configure input gestures or remove the missing add-ons?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Warm regards,
Mister Kayne

Hi there,
Even setting other issues aside, the main thing is that I’m not seeing either “WhatsAppNG” or “Remote Access” listed in the NVDA 2026.1.1 add-on store. So, incompatibility is most likely the root cause of your problem!
FYI, NVDA actually has built-in remote support, so you might want to give that a shot first. You really only need extra add-ons if you specifically require additional features.
On the flip side, there are plenty of add-ons out there claiming to make WhatsApp Web easier to use with NVDA, but honestly, most of them—if not all—fail to deliver. So, your best bet is to either get used to WhatsApp’s new UI or sit tight for a solid add-on that actually improves web browsing with NVDA.
HTH,
Snehashish.

I don't know if this applies to add-ons, but input gestures is
context sensitive. If you want to find gestures for browse mode,
you need to open input gestures starting from being in a browser
or other program using browse mode. You will find little or
nothing if you don't. If that applies to add-ons as well, you may
have to actually have the program that runs the add-on opened and
open input gestures from there. That is, open the NVDA menu and
find and open input gestures starting in a program using browse
mode, for example.

Thank you for the quick revert. Unfortunately, I do not even see the WhatsApp add-on in the incompatible list of the add-on store. The Remote Access you are referring to might be the default add-on of NVDA, as it is available under Tools in the NVDA settings.
Having said that, why can I not access the input gestures for it? It makes me wonder if I am missing something here.

Dear umesh,
Thank you for your reply.
Still stumped as to why the Remote Access is not showing in the NVDA/ Tools/ add on store? If I have installed the add on it should show there but it is not. Also with respect to the Whatsapp add-on; have removed it entirely. However I had only installed the Whatsapp NG add-on and still could not find the input gestures for it, so the question of conflicting add-ons is not valid here.
Having said that critical workflows have not been affected; yet it would be nice to just have a Whatsapp ad-on where I could configure the add-on's input gesture for the message to take actions as a context menu.
