I was just wondering if anyone can clarify what pressing n on the web does in more detail, and if there’s any scope for adjusting it.
I just opened a PDF in Edge at work, for example, and there are 21 tool-bar items that aren’t links before I get to the text. N doesn’t help in this situation, even though it feels like it’s the right option (if I know I an aiming for a heading or graphic I’ll use h or g, if I need to hop out of a list or table I’ll use comma). I hadn’t tried comma and it did work for the toolbar, but I’m still interested in people’s opinions on n and how useful it is or if it could be more so.

N is for jumping past blocks of links, but, NVDA+, (comma) jumps out of a container, like a table or list:
"Moves past the end of the container element, such as a list or table"
Stay well

Sorry - meant just the comma character on it's own when in virtual buffer mode - should also work in .pdf files, unless you need to toggle virtual mode on/off first using NVDA+space.

I understand that, I think.
I was sort of querying whether jumping passed links is the only thing n should do. If you want to get to the next block of text, there might be buttons, or form fields, or whatever else in the way.
I suppose I was really wondering if people use n, and if they don’t is it because it could or should jump through more than links.

That's the only use I know of for it, and, it's description is just that = "skips forward past a block of links"?
Probably not relevant, but in this context, what I use a lot of the time is the textNav add-ons keystroke to jump to the next paragraph - alt+shift+down arrow = "Move to next paragraph containing text."

In browsers, reading PDF files, you can press "d" to move to next section, in this case is the same of pages...
So pressing "d" it pass all the buttons at beginning, and go to the information about loading the file.
Pressing again go to page 1, one more and go to page 2...

Cool - hadn't realised that it had been brought into NVDA.
Hi Jacob and others,
I do recommend reading the what’s new document whenever a new NVDA stable version is released to keep up with changes, including entries that can remind you of add-on features brought into NVDA itself.
Cheers,
Joseph

I'll use it sometimes. I have seen it fail, that is, I've seen it land on a graphic then below that are more links. I use it maybe 60 percent of the time whereas the other 40 percent i will just arrow or find a heading, or just use screen reader find.

that is not always the case. I've even see D fail or regions
improperly coded. I work in chrome as my daily driver and I've
often more than not seen the D key fail on certain websites. Do
not rely on that 100 percent of the time. I've even see it fail
on PDFs where I render in the browser.
Thanks and happy Monday.
