Hi everyone,

Please let me know if there is a different group or mailing list that this would be more appropriate to post to. I am part of team of student researchers that are working on developing inclusive hurricane maps for a class project, and we are looking for NVDA users specifically located in the US for remote interviews.

Here's some more information:

We are students at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying how to design and develop accessible and inclusive maps for hurricane tracking and other climate-related phenomena. We are looking for individuals to participate in a 20-25 minute interview where you give us feedback after listening to sonified representations of climate data and interacting with a digital map. This study is part of a class project for CS 8803 SRD - Sonification Lab Research and Design Studio.

To be eligible, you must be able to understand and speak English, and be 18 years of age. Interviews will be conducted over Zoom. You will be compensated $10 for your time.

If you have questions or are interested in participating, please contact Emily Amspoker (eamsp...@gatech.edu).

Hi Emily:
Thanks for asking on this list. I think that it's a good place to find people for interviews.
As you may know, on the NVDA store there is an add-on named audioScreen. I haven't used it, but you may be interested.
Kind regards,
Noelia, from Spain

Emily,

This is one of NV Access’s primary platforms, and I believe you’re totally OK to put this proposal forward here.

My main concern is its geographical limitation, which is why you’ll need to post about this more on other platforms (specifically those with a higher concentration of users in the States). Also, I can definitely recall an app that has been creating quite a buzz in the US blind community (primarily among iOS users) called ‘Ramblio.’

I think you should create an account there and make a post in the ‘Technology’ zone.

Besides that, have you shared this post on NV Access’s other
social media
Channels?

I’m in quite a few groups on groups.io. If you think it needs to go there as well or if you have any difficulty to understanding the concept of Ramblio, you can start a personal thread with me at
snehashi...@gmail.com.
I will either share those details with you or we can find another way in due time.

HTH,

Snehashish.

Hi Noelia,

Good to know that it's okay to ask about recruitment on this list.

Thanks for letting me know about audioScreen! I checked it out and it seems very relevant for our project.

Best,
Emily

Hi Snehashish,

Thank you for the tips! I will definitely check out Ramblio and let you know if I need help with the app (I just have to double-check that our ethics board approval allows us to recruit in an audio-based modality since we only had our recruitment text approved).

I haven't shared this to any of NVDA's other social media channels. Which ones would be best for this kind of message (and what would be the best way of getting this to those channels)?

It would be great if you could share the recruiting message to any groups at groups.io that you think might be interested in participating in the study.

Thank you again for all your help!

Best,
Emily

Hi Emily.

I’m responding in the list because your email address appears cut off for some reason (eamsp...@gatech.edu).

I live in South Florida, and i’m interested in your study.

Feel free to contact me off list.

Thank you.
