How to prevent NVDA from automatically activating the interactive mode
on web pages, where there are menu elements? For Example, if I try to
navigate to the first level heading in the following adress by pressing
number 1, the interactive mode is activated:

https://www.kauppalehti.fi/uutiset/a/377b3c29-aff7-4e52-b190-1869c2afbd99

The same happens, for example, when I go to the start of the page and
then search for some text on that page. This is very annoying. Shouldn't
NVDA behave like this?

Best wishes,

Hi, Vili! I think you mean that NVDA sometimes automatically switches from browse to focus mode as you navigate the page, for example, when you entering forms, edit fields and so on. To avoid this, goto NVDA settings and then Browse mode section, you can press NVDA-Ctrl-B to go directly tothis section and then uncheck "Automatic focus mode for focus changes" checkbox.
Best regards!

I know the setting mentioned. I don't want to turn this feature off
completely. I just wanted to stop this weird automation on situations,
where I'm not actually navigating to an interactive element. Heading
elements, for example, are not interactive elements, so pressing number
1 in the beginning of the page should not activate the interactive mode,
like NVDA does on certain pages, when there are menu elements before the
first heading on level 1.

Thanks in advance,

Veli
