Hi,
I've been meaning to post about this but i figured I'd wait until nvda 2026 came out to see if it was an issue there, and it appears that it is. Basickly, there's this issue with games built on some of the newer versions of unity where nvda doesn't see the focus hit the game windiw, which means that putting it in sleep mode puts sleep mode on for the main shell/ file explorer interface and not just the game. This also has the side effect of making it so if you, say, use a mod for a game that shows a textbox, then close the mod window while the text field was in focus, pressing arrow keys in the main game window does things in game, but nvda also reports blank as if the text box is still there. I'm wondering, is this something that can be fixed in nvda? I've noticed this when editing rhythm doctor levels in the level editor, as if I edit an event in the accessible event editor included with the accessibility mod for that game, and press enter to say ok but i'm on a text field, this issue with nvda thinking focus is still in the text field happens, even though the helper window is gone and focus returned to the game window again. The only currently known fix for this is to make sure I atively tab to the pok or cancel buttons and press them rather than using enter or escape while on a text field in the UI. This also means every time I play. i have to turn off sleep mode when accessing the run box, the desktop, or any folder in explorer after I run the game. the developer of the rhythm doctor level editor access mod told me this was an issue when I asked, and recommended i ask about it in an nvda group, so here i am doing that. I hope something can be done to fix this.
