I am not writing the following just to address you or this thread. I
see this over and over on list after list. In your case as an example,
you have no basis, based on what you wrote to conclude that NVDA is
freezing or is the problem. You say the keyboard stops working and that
NVDA keeps speaking when you press a key such as when trying to tab to
the OK button. If you still have speech, you have no basis to assume
that the screen-reader has stopped functioning. And even if you lose
speech, that doesn't automatically mean the screen-reader has stopped.
It could be the synthesizer that has stopped. In short, when asking
about problems, report details, what happens. Don't report conclusions
with no information about the problem. You have much less chance of
getting good help that way because we don't know what is actually
occurring. All we know is what you say is the problem and we have no
way to evaluate if it is.
While it may be that not letting NVDA run at boot up may stop the
problem at that time, that doesn't mean it is actually stopping the
problem, just stopping one condition under which it occurs. And that
being the case, we don't know if and when it might occur otherwise.
You also mention a message for which you try to get to the OK button.
Does the message have anything to do with the problem? Whether you
think it does or not, when does it occur and what does it say. I'm not
just going into this for one person. I'm saying that when asking for
help with a problem, give details. In many instances it is crucial in
helping others understand or guess better what may be going on and it
may prevent a lot of needless back and forth and advice given that may
be far less likely to apply because people don't understand what the
problem is or may be.
