Hi friends,
sub: enabling the image description option in NVDA 64 bit latest version
//2026.1
This release introduces on-device AI image descriptions. You can now
use NVDA+g to describe images you encounter.//
I used this option for image description, but NVDA gives the
message "image description is not enabled."
how to enable it. the NVDA version is 64 bit 2026.1 latest version.
Thank you

Robert

Open NVDA settings, scroll down to AI Image descriptions category, tab
over to the enable checkbox, turn it on, and then tab over to, and press
enter on the Ok button?

I have N V D A version 2025.3.0.52596. It tells me that this is the latest available. How does one get this 2026 version?

Hi, Nancy! You're using stable release version of NVDA. 2026.1 version is now in alpha stage of development and it is intended for testing purposes and for those who wants to touch right now what we all get in future. If you're interesting to do so, you can download a latest alpha version from this page
But you must be ready that alpha version of any software will not work as you expected so it is a good way to keep your installed stable version of NVDA untouched and use alpha as portable copy.
Best regards!
