Announcing Capital letters

Good morning to all.


Using NVDA and Word 13, how can I tell if a letter is capitalized or
lowercase? Thanks.

If you are on a letter and want to hear if it is capitalized, moving
from the letter and to it again will present the letter with a raised
pitch, thus telling you it is capitalized.  Or you can use the read
current letter command, numpad 2.  It will present the letter you are on
with a raised pitch, telling you it is capitalized.


If you want capitalization indicated in other ways, open the speech
dialog, NVDA key control v.  Tab around and you will see check boxes for
say cap for capital letter and beep for capital letter.  But these will
only be done if you look at the individual letter, as I described. 
There is no automatic announcement of capital letters while listening to
text being read.


What I've described is not related at all to what you are using as a
word processor or whether you are in a word processor.  These are NVDA
methods of hearing if something is capitalized.

I am using NVDA (latest version) in windows 11.

In the NVDA Speech Settings there is an option to set Detect capital to an increased pitch (i.e. 31% rise ); say "cap" before each capital letter; or Beep before each capital letter.
