NVDA and the Copilot App for Windows

Hello,

Why does NVDA work so poorly with braille in this app? Braille keeps
freezing constantly, and I have to refocus the window using Alt+Tab to
get it unstuck.

It’s been like this for a long time, and I’ve never noticed any improvement.

The Windows 11 version is the latest, and so is the app's; I have no
pending updates for Windows or the Copilot app.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention this—sorry about that: simply
navigating through the Copilot window causes the braille to get stuck on
the braille display, so you have to use Alt+Tab.

This is a behavior unique to the Copilot app; NVDA does not exhibit this
behavior in other applications, only in this one.

Hi,
To narrow down the issue a bit, can you try with NVDA 2025.1.2 and with add-ons disabled? I am interested in seeing if a change made in 2025.2 might be the cause.

Hello,

No, because I already tried with previous versions and the behavior was
the same. I even had the chance to test with NVDA 2024 at the time, and
nothing changed in the behavior.

Hi,
I see - my initial guess is that braille is not updating when system focus moves yet speech responds correctly.
This is one of those moments where I wish I knew more about braille support (input and output) internals, as well as to have a braille support specialist on this forum (to lighten the workload a little bit)...
