When using read current line doesn't work

I recently found something that may be useful. The New Outlook, when
used with NVDA, doesn't read the message headers of a message in the
list if you are using read current line. Evidently, there is something
about how information is presented that doesn't allow it. I'm not just
discussing this for The New Outlook. I suspect this problem is growing
as the way information is presented to the screen changes in various apps.
If you use numpad insert numpad 5 the information will be read and if
you issue the command twice quickly, it is spelled. Three times it is
copied to the clipboard. You can hold the NVDA key and press numpad
five two or three times.
I gave the desktop command. The input help says reports the current
navigator object if people want to look for the laptop command.

Hi Gene,
I might be missing something (so I wanted to check) - when I arrow through the message list in (new) Outlook, it reads the sender, subject, time and then the preview of the body, as well as telling me when there are attachments. That is all that is displayed visually. And if I press NVDA+up arrow, it reads it again. Is it not doing that for you? If I press numpad 5 it reads the sender

I hgavedn't tried that enough in The New Outlook to know if that program
has the problem. Thunderbird does. I wrote about this because if one
program does, others may as well and I gave a work around that may well
work.

I suspect you are using an attachment that prevents the problem. I
haven't looked for Outlook Extensions.
I just tried this with NVDA, no Outlook attachments installed and the
problem I describe occurs. So both Thunderbird and the new Outlook
have the problem and perhaps other programs we don't know about.
If you aren't using an Outlook extension, perhaps you are using another
extension that changes the behavior in Outlook,

I'm a bit confused, you created this thread saying you can't read the message headers when in the list in NEW OUTLOOK". When I couldn't replicate, you said you hadn't tried in new outlook but it happened in Thunderbird, therefore it may happen elsewhere?
