Hello NVDA Community,
I’m reaching out to see if anyone has a permanent fix for a Sound Split issue that has been haunting me across two different operating systems.
The Problem:
I use the following configuration: Sound split mode: NVDA on the right and applications in both channels.
Whenever I wake my computer from Hibernation, the setting fails. NVDA audio returns to both channels.
Key Details:
• Persistence: I experienced this consistently on Windows 10, and it has persisted after my recent upgrade to Windows 11.
• Current Version: NVDA 2025.3.2 (2025.3.2.53588)
• OS: Windows 11
• Observation: It seems like the NVDA audio virtual driver or the "WASAPI" state doesn't re-initialize the split correctly after a power state change.
Steps taken:
I currently have to manually toggle the settings back and forth to "force" the split to work again after every wake-up. Given that this has survived an OS upgrade, I suspect it might be related to how NVDA interacts with the audio hardware during the resume sequence.
Is this a known limitation of the Sound Split feature during hibernation? Are there any recommended registry tweaks or add-ons that might help "lock" this setting in place? Any help would be much appreciated, although this is not a critical challenge for me to live with.
Sincerely,
Mujtaba Merchant
