##Lost Archives of NVDA Culture

There are several sad realities about the culture of NVDA Screen reader. . let's mourn them one by one.

1. The website changed several times, first one was around 2007, when kulgan.net  stop being the home of NvDA and NVAccess is established.
  then, 2011, when they stop using TracWiki way of creating websites and host them with wordpress.
  then in 2016 there are some transission as well.
  In that transisions we lost quite number of things.
  most significant are the early changelogs and versions documentations of nvda. [Refer NVAccess reply here](https://fosstodon.org/@NVAccess/116242868304097887)
  AS @NVAc...@fosstodon.org pointed out in the reply,

2. We also loss the complete archive of all podcast audio files, only episode notes are available.

3. we do not have the second and third annual report by NVAccess when they made them available. 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 annual reports are in pdf thus not archived anywhere.
4. the earliest news shown to us in the nvaccess news page date back to NV Access Recognised as Outstanding Disability Organisation as part of Queensland’s DisabilitySeptember 26, 2011 9:19 pm https://www.nvaccess.org/category/news/page/12/
  Strawling the archive, we can see that during the 2012 transision, NVAccess started their news page from scratch, letting go all other older posts.
  It should be their CMS migration limitation that noone looked at at that time.
  but, when you look through the archive page you can see that the news section goes back to 2007-07-14, during which first started their website.

  Some of the greatest blog post that I recommend are as follows.

  - Donation Update
  - NVDA Needs You

  - Mozilla Foundation Grant to improve web access in NVDA, this is the first post
  - other grant related post.
5. this is the saddest part of my discovery, but let's hope that it's a glitch. Starting from 2025,  NVAccess in-the-media page, only shows one link to a media coverage of the NVDA screen reader, and it's kept out-of-date since then. https://www.nvaccess.org/in-the-media/
  but, when we look at the archived 2024 page, we can find massive 55 items and everything have the power of bringing us back to the early age.

Do let me know what else needed to be found. WE as users have all the responsibility and duty to preserve the culture of this truly, Blind Screen Reader.

HI Kavein,

I replied to your post on this on Mastodon, and of course if you ever notice anything missing from the site you are always most welcome to reach out to us directly.  From your points:

1)  Yes, websites move, and I think most would agree that nvaccess.org is a more appropriate domain for the organisation now.  I don't think that in itself is a bad thing.  And yes, sites change over time - there aren't many which haven't.  That in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing :)

2) The Podcast, I did find the links to this awhile back and posted them on the last thread which asked on Mastodon (though I will leave it to someone else to chase those up this time).

3) Annual reports.  I'm sure we do still have copies of those, though I'm not sure where they might be online.  Note that we do now publish a quarterly update you can subscribe to at: https://nvaccess.org/newsletter

4) Interesting!  I hadn't looked for those old news articles previously :)

5) Yes that is a glitch, I'm looking into fixing that in-the-media page, we do still update it, and as and when I get it fixed, I'll get a more prominent link to it back on the site.
