Please ignore my previous message with a similar subject line (I have forgotten it). I suspect the uninstall part of the problem was due to my incompetence. I had to stop NVDA from launching after a restart to stop it being offended. Using Narrator I was then able to uninstall. Interstingly, all or most files remained. That meant that when running the beta 8 installer previous settings were retained.
