Dear List Members,

I am reaching out to see if anyone has encountered a specific accessibility issue with NVDA and Outlook 2024.

I have customized my Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) to include the "Mark Important" command and assigned it the keyboard shortcut Alt + 1. When I use this shortcut on a message, the email is indeed marked as important; however, NVDA remains silent. It does not announce that the message status has changed or been marked.

Interestingly, this functionality works perfectly on my office laptop, where we use Microsoft 365. On that machine, NVDA provides the expected verbal confirmation when the shortcut is triggered.

System Details:

• Outlook Version: Outlook 2024

• NVDA Version: 2025.3.3 (2025.3.3.54605)

• OS: Windows 11

I have verified that the QAT position is the same on both machines. Does anyone have suggestions on why the announcement might be failing in the 2024 version or how to force NVDA to recognize this state change?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Warm regards,

Mister Kayne
